The WK5 tool breakage monitoring system was developed specifically for applications where the highest precision is required—particularly when utilizing very small tools with diameters starting at just 0.1 mm. As a tactile probe, the WK5 touches the tool in a controlled and gentle manner, thereby reliably detecting breakages, misalignments, or missing tools without subjecting the tool cutting edge to unnecessary stress. The probe head features a completely sealed design and withstands even the harshest industrial conditions. With a diameter of just 22 mm, the WK5 can be easily integrated even into confined machine interiors. Its robust stainless steel construction with a chrome-plated finish ensures high durability, while the long-life stylus is rated for up to ten million probing cycles. A key feature of the WK5 is the adjustable speed and torque with which the stylus contacts the tool. This allows the probe to be optimally adapted to various tool sizes and materials—a decisive advantage when working with sensitive micro-tools. Probing can be performed in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions, covering an angular range of 15 to 270 degrees. Wear-free, short-circuit-proof PNP outputs are available for integration into the machine control system. Electrical connection is established via a Phoenix connector, making installation particularly simple. With an IP67 protection rating, an operating temperature range of 0 to +70 °C, and a compact, industrial-grade design, the WK5 tool breakage monitoring system represents a reliable solution for precise and stable manufacturing processes.
