The WK2 tool breakage monitoring system is the ideal choice when tools within a machine require reliable, gentle, and absolutely stable monitoring. It probes tools and objects directly and precisely—quickly, consistently, and with a particularly soft contact that protects both the tool and the machine. Thanks to its compact design—featuring a diameter of just 22 mm—it can be integrated even in spaces where room is at a premium. The WK2 is built for harsh industrial environments. Its triple-sealed, chrome-plated special steel housing offers lasting resistance against coolants, chips, and chemicals. The V-seal prevents deposits from forming between moving parts, ensuring that even dried-on emulsion—following a machine shutdown—does not lead to malfunctions. The carbide probe tip ensures a long service life—typically up to ten million cycles. The probe scans in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions, covering a wide angular range of 15 to 270 degrees. Various probe lengths, available in carbide or brass, allow for flexible adaptation to a wide range of applications. The controlled drive regulates position, speed, and torque, ensuring that contact with the tool is exceptionally gentle and eliminating the need for external mechanical stops. For integration into the machine control system, both PNP and NPN outputs are available; each is short-circuit protected and can be inverted via DIP switch if required. The output signals remain latched until the next scan cycle, making signal evaluation particularly secure. With an IP68 protection rating and an operating temperature range of 0 to 80 °C, the WK2 is ideally suited for continuous operation in demanding production environments.
