The WK10 tool breakage monitoring system is the ideal solution for machines that require precise and reliable inspection of tools of varying lengths. As a tactile probe, the WK10 makes direct contact with the tool tip, delivering highly accurate absolute measurement values ​​with a precision of 0.04 mm per 100 mm of probe stylus length. Consequently, the system is particularly well-suited for applications where exact tool positioning and reliable breakage detection are critical. The probe head features absolute sealing in accordance with IP68, making it ideally suited for use in harsh environments. The patented sealing system prevents the accumulation of debris between moving parts—meaning that even dried-on coolant will not cause malfunctions following production breaks. With a probe head diameter of just 43 mm and a maximum stylus length of up to 660 mm, the WK10 can be flexibly integrated into a wide variety of machine concepts. A standout feature is the absolute encoder, which precisely and unambiguously captures the exact position of the probe stylus at all times. The drive system—regulated for position, speed, and torque—ensures that the stylus makes contact with the tool with exceptional gentleness; this is ideal for protecting delicate cutting edges. The probing process can be performed in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction, covering an angular range of up to 360°. For integration into modern CNC control systems, the WK10 offers PROFIBUS or PROFINET communication capabilities, allowing measurement data to be transmitted directly to the controller without any intermediate steps. A major advantage is the system's ability to define a reference tool, which is taught in just once. All subsequent tools are then automatically calculated based on these stored calibration data—saving time during machine changeovers and enhancing process reliability.
