New enhancements in TraceParts v2.5.0.

Installation
| Starting from this new version 2.5.0, the quantity of parts catalogs available is not anymore compatible with a single CD-ROM. Therefore we have decided to switch to a DVD, and TraceParts will now be only available as a DVD media. In case you do not have a DVD drive to install TraceParts, we invite you to contact our hotline to get a special URL to download the application and the catalogs of your choice. |
A new " Massive deployment " installation option is now available. This option will facilitate TraceParts installation across a network: the administrator defines all installation settings (paths, CAD formats, catalogs) and then users launch TraceParts installation from their PC and TraceParts will be installed without additional user input. |
Application
| Use with multi-CAD configuration: on a PC with where several CAD software compatible with TraceParts are installed, TraceParts will automatically select the appropriate CAD format to insert parts in the active CAD program. 2D and 3D viewers : component orientation and origin can be displayed either inside or outside of the model. File names in upper or lower case: file names generated with TraceParts can be forced to be upper case of lower case, through the configuration panel. This function aims to enhance TraceParts compliance with PDM software. Technical documents: access to technical documents (PDF datasheets, images, etc.) is now possible via an Internet connection and not necessarily via a local installation. This new features saves disk space for users and ensure them that the data are up to date. CAD files repository: it is now possible to define a local or network directory to store the CAD files (="Vault"). If such repository is defined, TraceParts will check if the file for this component already exists before creating the CAD model. 1. If there is no file with the same name inside the repository, a new file will be created and the component will be inserted into the CAD program 2. If a file with the same name already exists, either: - TraceParts copies the file in the working directory (defined in TraceParts configuration) and inserts the component, |

| INVENTOR Connection with PDM software Autodesk Vault CATIA V5 - A new and more productive method to insert components in CATIA V5 has been set. Users now choose the CATIA " Product " to insert the component in, then select the insertion point. - During insertion of a component in a CATIA product, it is now possible to select the type of insertion to perform. So, the component can be inserted as an " Internal " component or an " External " component.  |
SOLID EDGE - "Manage your own parts" is a new feature which allows the designers to store and access their native Solid Edge CAD files directly inside TraceParts user interface. Solid Edge native models can be classified piloted and displayed inside TraceParts for an easier and quicker re-use with Solid Edge. This new feature requires a specific licensing option (please contact our sales department for more information: info@traceparts.com) SOLIDWORKS - "Manage your own parts" is a new feature which allows the designers to store and access their native SolidWorks CAD files directly inside TraceParts user interface. SolidWorks native models can be classified piloted and displayed inside TraceParts for an easier and quicker re-use with SolidWorks.
