Version 2.3.5 SP1 of
TraceParts DVD

Enhancements and new features

This page provides release-specific information for the version 2.3.5 SP1 of TraceParts compared to the version 2.3.2.
For more information about this new release, please read the "Helpdesk" of TraceParts DVD.
New detailed descriptions of the various installation types.

Correction of the installation issue happening with release 2.3.2 when the application is installed alone and the selected parts path is a network path.

Filtering of the list of CAD software/formats displayed during installation:
  • CAD software whose preliminary installation on the PC is required to install TraceParts are not anymore displayed if they are not yet installed (this applies to CATIA V5, thinkdesign, TopSolid).
  • when upgrading from release 2.1.x or higher, the format which was already active is automatically detected and selected by default.

    With CATIA V5 :
  • TraceParts icon and shortcut are installed on the Windows desktop and in the TraceParts Program group (as for the other CAD software).
  • TraceParts icon is automatically displayed in the " Assembly Design " workbench (and not anymore only in the " Product Structure " workbench).

  • Upgrade of commercial or dealer licenses: it is required to re-enter the company and user names as well as the license number at the end of the installation of TraceParts v2.3.5 SP1.

Upgrade from releases 2.0.x and 2.1.x: new activation codes required for all the nodelocked licenses, including those protected by a EUTRON hardware lock (dongle).

Upgrade from releases 2.3.x: no new activation code required.

The module which allows to build a link between the TraceParts database and an external source of data (new feature available since TraceParts version 2.3.2) now requires a specific licensing. It anyway remains available during the trial period. For information, this feature allows the association of custom data of PDM type (internal references, prices, status, …) to the standard data provided by the manufacturer's catalog. An animated demo of this new feature is available under the AVI format on the CD (file external_data.avi).

The extensive list of CAD software and formats compatible with each release of TraceParts is available on this Web page.

    » CATIA V5:
    - support of CATIA V5 R13 GA.
    - adding of native CATIA V5 features for material and publications for the ISO fasteners.
    - correction of the " On/Off " behavior of the TraceParts icon in CATIA V5

    » SolidWorks:
    - support of SolidWorks 2004.
    - adding of SolidWorks native fasteners catalogs for NF, ISO and DIN standards.
    - adding of a new customized property (TYPE = CATASM) for all the sub-parts of components created as an assembly by TraceParts (for example Cylinders). As a contrary, assembly files and components created as a single part by TraceParts have the value " CATPART " for this " TYPE " property. This property then allows any PDM system to specifically process those files.

» Pro/ENGINEER 2001 & Wildfire : - Quality improvement of the driver, especially for fasteners modeling
    - correction of the selection issue with geometric entities of some models created from TraceParts
    - correction of the insertion issue of BOM attributes/parameters when strings are over 80 caracters

» Support of TopSolid 2004 and related 3D modules (TopMold, TopProgress, …)

» Support of AutoCAD 2004 and AutoCAD Mechanical 2004 DX : direct launch of TraceParts from AutoCAD and direct insertion of parts into AutoCAD (without BOM data transfer)

» SSupport of Mechanical Desktop 2004 DX : direct launch of TraceParts from Mechanical Desktop and direct insertion of parts into Mechanical Desktop (without BOM data transfer)

» Support of Solid Edge 15

» Support of Inventor 8, Inventor Series 8 and Inventor Professional 8

» Adding of a new " dimensional drawing " tab on the left of the viewer. When applicable, this tab displays the various 2D views available for the active family.

»Adding of version numbers of the various catalogs of Standards installed. Those versions are displayed through the menu " ? | Catalogs | installed catalogs ".

» Adding of a bounding box in the 3D viewer to display the external dimensions of the active reference.

The extensive list of new parts families is available as a PDF file on the TraceParts CD (file NewParts235.pdf).
